John is an American baseball manager and coach with more than 50 years of experience in professional baseball. He currently serves as the Head Coach and Manager of the Polish National Team.
During his MLB career, he was the manager of the Seattle Mariners (2007–2008) and served as the interim manager of the Washington Nationals. He also built a strong reputation as a coach, working with the Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Rays, and Philadelphia Phillies.
McLaren was a coach for Team USA at the 2006 World Baseball Classic and has also worked with the national teams of Italy and China.
As the manager of the Polish National Team, McLaren brings world-class American baseball expertise and decades of experience to Poland as they prepare to compete in the 2026 European Baseball Championship in Wrocław.
